Arrive with the scene in mind
Bring a short shot list and the production brief. Walk the route of the action, identify your main frames and check whether the location can accommodate both the image and the people needed to make it.
Look at light across the schedule
Record window orientation, direct sun, shaded areas and practical lights. A bright room at the recce may behave differently at your shooting time. Note where you would need blackout, diffusion or additional light, and discuss how these can be installed.
Test the quiet assumptions
Listen for air conditioning, lifts, traffic and neighbouring activity. Ask which systems can be controlled and when. Check mobile reception and establish the production's communication plan.
Follow the equipment route
Walk from vehicle arrival to the set with the largest planned equipment in mind. Measure relevant doors and lifts, locate power points, and identify parking, holding, changing, toilets and waste arrangements.
Leave with a shared record
Photograph approved areas, note restrictions and capture outstanding questions. Confirm decisions in the project workspace so the quotation and location-use schedule reflect the plan the crew will follow.
